2X2 Digit Multiplication

To multiply 42 by 36, first we broke apart the numbers. To keep track of the numbers we were multiplying, we drew this as an array. Can you see how we multiplied?

We are practicing every day and getting better and better. We use our Smartboard or the  Show Me app on the iPad to practice, too.

Multiplying 2 X 2 digit numbers isn't as hard as we thought it would be!  What do you think about this strategy?

Check your Investigation Student Handbook online for more practice and review!

  1. I already learned 2x2 multiplication but this way is easier. It helped me learn it better!

  2. Learning more than one way of doing things is great! Also any 'big' problem can be solved by breaking it down to smaller problems - great way of teaching!
