On Tuesday we found out the Caldecott winner!
The winner was A Ball For Daisy by Chris Raschka. We were all perplexed and surprised, and we had our own thoughts about the book. But after Mrs. Alaniz read the book to us, our thoughts changed. Some thought A Ball For Daisy was better than our class Caldecott winner, Where's Walrus?. Others thought Where's Walrus? was better. A Ball For Daisy is about a dog named Daisy and what happens to her ball. We learned that a book doesn't need words to tell a good story.
Here are some thoughts from our classmates:
" I am really glad that A Ball For Daisy won because it's a good book and I like that it's a wordless book."
" I like A Ball For Daisy because it's a good book without words and it shows a good story."
"A Ball For Daisy is good because it's a wordless book and it has good illustrations."
"A Ball For Daisy is a fun and exciting book."
" A Ball For Daisy is great. The author had a lot of imagination."
" A Ball For Daisy had a lot of imagination for a wordless picture book."
"Since A Ball for Daisy won the Caldecott, that proves that a book doesn't need words."
Have you read this book? What did you like about it?

ReplyDeleteI like the ball for Daisy because she did everthing with it. I did not like the part where Daisy's ball was stolen. It made me sad.
I like the book a ball for Daisy because she liked the ball so much she did mostly everything with it like when she goes for a walk she takes it with her. I did not like the part when the dog took the ball and then it popped
