School Is Out! What Did We Learn?

This year in 4th grade we learned...
  • division
  • multiplication
  • reading strategies
  • writing strategies
  • how to use Google Apps
  • how to respect copyright laws
  • how to Mystery Skype
  • how to use decimals
  • fractions
  • how to create charts
  • expository compositions
  • how to play our recorders
  • all about the Alamo
  • all about plants
  • how to write a blog post
  • how to comment on a blog post
  • how to find a book to read
  • moon phases
  • sound vibration
  • erosion
  • deposition
  • how to ask good questions
  • how to have a discussion on a topic
  • how to make a podcast
  • how to write a novel in one month! (NaNoWriMo)
  • electricity (we made our own circuits!)
  • how to research topics that are important to us
  • much, much more than we can list here!
We liked blogging because we like to tell the world what we are doing in school.

We hope that you read the blog over the summer. Mrs.Alaniz will still post.

(A note from Mrs. Alaniz: Our final book total for the year was 2,347 books. I am so proud of our class! Once we started reading, we couldn't stop. But we didn't read to reach a total. We read to learn and discover more about ourselves. We are lifelong readers now! )

What did you learn this year?

Actually you are wrong on the book total, it is 2,348! I finished Out of my Mind at the library that is filled with books you want to read!I read it with joy!The library is marvelous!
By the way, when you mean once we started reading, we couldn't stop, does that mean our book total will keep getting higher and higher?

  2. Love the idea of keeping a book total - will try it with my 3rd graders this year. I had to laugh at your jalapeño gift! One of my TX students (30 years ago) brought me hot tamales instead of an apple! If you have ever made hot tamales, you know it was a true gift!

Love your site - was looking to beef up my bookshelves this year and your book selections have given me lots of summer reading!
