This morning we went to the library to hear who won the Texas Bluebonnet Award. Once we got there, we were pumped! When Mrs. Drawbaugh logged on the computer, we had to wait before the webcast link was live.
Finally, it came on. First we saw this slide showing how many kids in Texas voted: 176, 569!
Then we found out the 4th place winner: Mirror Mirror
Then we found out the 3rd place winner: Out of My Mind.
A lot of people in our class loved this book!
Then the 2nd place winner was announced--the one nobody was expecting:
Goal!
Finally, the one everybody was waiting for! In first place was: The Strange Case of Origami Yoda by Tom Angleberger.
We were so glad and amazed.
But there was one more surprise! Tom Angleberger came on to thank all the voters! He was very funny and nice.
He even showed us the original Origami Yoda that was on the cover of the book! That was so cool!
It was really great to hear an author.
We hope next year's Bluebonnet nominees are all good, too!
What surprised you about the Bluebonnet Award this year?
I need to share this with my class! Many of my kids loved the The Missing Buddy Files and Out of my Mind! Thanks for posting.
ReplyDeleteNothing really surprised me. I wonder what it would be like to be an author who won the Bluebonnet award.
ReplyDeleteMy prediction was right I predicted that Origami Yoda would win without any contest.
