Skyping with Mr. Kerr's Class!

4D skyped with some new buddies today!

Our new skyping buddies are the students in Mr. Kerr's senior AP English class at New Tech High @ Coppell.
Mrs. Alaniz and Mr. Kerr met when they were both named Super Teacher in December.
Teachers learn when they work together, and both Mr. Kerr and Mrs. Alaniz knew getting their students together would be a great project.

Mr. Kerr's students were trying to find new and better ways to teach grammar.  They presented their ideas on video through YouTube, and the students in Mrs. Alaniz's class gave their feedback via Skype.

The New Tech students' proposals included using games, cards, rap, and pictures to teach sentence structure.  Overall, Mrs. Alaniz's students liked using games and competition to teach grammar. It was exciting to meet and work with high school students!  (Mrs. Alaniz was especially surprised that two of her former students were part of this project!)

Working with others (collaboration) is a very good way to learn.

What part of this project did you enjoy the most?

  1. I enjoyed it when we got to use TodaysMeet. It was very fun! Will we Ever Do It Again?

  2. What a fun way to bring together elementary and high school students. New Tech is always doing unique things. Luke's big brother Mitch goes there. It would be fun if they could Skype together some time at school. Will you guys be doing more Skyping in the future?
