We had four stations:
Station 1: Poetry (We used rhythm and pictures to write poems about colors). We're collecting the poems for a book for the library!
Station 2: S'Mores (They were very tasty and chocolatey.) Parents helped us make S'mores in microwaves!
Station 3: Writing a story (We used laptops to write pass-along stories in Google Docs. We each added our own part to a story.)
Station 4: Bubble Maps about our S'Mores (We explored our thinking and talked about S'Mores and how wonderful they are!)
This frog was hanging out with us at Camp Write-A-Way. It is a tree frog!
This was our big banner for Camp Write-Away.
These were the tents in the bubble map station. We wrote inside the tents. It was really fun to do that! We really felt like we were camping!
This is our "burning" campfire (tissue paper). We sat around it and listened to Mr. McLain teach us about word choice. We also sang a campfire song called "The 12 Days of Writing Camp". It felt really fun around the campfire with the whole 4th grade.
At the beginning and end of writing camp, we sang our Camp Write-A-Way song.
It was an exciting day for the whole fourth grade! We LOVE to write!

This sounds like so much fun! What a great way to engage the kids in writing!
