The Whale's Journey
a poem written by the students in 4A
From the Arctic to Mexico
They travel far.
An important trip they are making --
all for their young.
Gray whales show love for their families this way.
They travel far.
How far?
How far would you go for your family?
They travel 6,000 miles!!
That is farther than Times Square.
WE stop and eat on road trips with our own families.
But for 3-4 months
gray whiles hardly eat at all--
using their blubber to stay alive.
Back to their homeland they go
after their long journey.
Remarkable journey it is!!
We also charted the route of the migration using Google Earth! The red line represents the path they travel. Such a journey!
We hope you like our poem! We wrote it in Writer's Workshop today!

I had a lot of fun making the whale poem!I learned a lot!
ReplyDeleteIt is such a long way to travel for the gray whales! It was interesting and fun to learn about their journey.
ReplyDeleteI think that the Gray Whale picture you put up was really good. Especially since the illustrator is in our class.
