We Love Learning New Words!

In our classroom, we have a Word Collector.
It is posted on our door.

Whenever we find a new word in our read-aloud or textbooks, we post it on our word collector. One student will write the word down and its definition.

This week we learned these words:
  • crustacean
  • tedious
  • abrupt
  • invertebrate
Each student has their own personal word collector, too!
We love learning new words and expanding our vocabulary!

  1. I wonder how big our word collector is going to get.
    P.S there are 7 homophones.

  4. Dear 4A,

    WOW!!!

You guys KNEW I would like this blog post about your WORD COLLECTOR! HOW COOL IS THAT!

Ya'll make me want to be in class with you everyday! You are doing some really neat things & I can tell you are ENGAGED!

I can't wait to see how many students in 4A can tell me the definition of ENGAGE!

Keep up the great work Trailblazers! Your blog is among the best I have EVER seen!

P.S. Did you know that I started tweeting this week?! I started a Twitter account for Denton Creek so we can keep your parents informed about what is going on at school - like the AMAZING things that are happening all the time in 4A!

  5. I wonder how many words our word collecter can hold! How many words do you think we are going to come across 4A?

  6. I LOVE the word collector idea! I have a huge, blank bulletin board that I think would be perfect for implementing this in my classroom. Thank you for sharing!!
