Our Canada Skype Call
We had our first international Skype call with a class in Calgary, Canada. The Skype call started at 1:50 and ended at 2:19. The call was 29 minutes long. Their time zone is the Mountain time zone. They use Celsius instead of Farenheit. The weather there is cold in the winter and warm in the summer. They have a provincial owl like we have a state bird, the mockingbird. They wear school uniforms. Their favorite book is The One And Only Ivan like us. We have some of the same holidays as them. They started the book in the beginning of October. They are one hour behind our time. Their school has been open for 100 years.
From Calgary to our school in Texas it is 1,531.37 miles and 2,464.50 kilometers. (We used Google Earth to find the distance.)
We wrote a word problem and it goes like this:
What is the difference between the distance in miles and kilometers from our school in Texas to Calgary, Canada? The answer is 933. We had Skype jobs like Blogger and Photographer. We would like to do this again!

I loved The One And Only Iven!
ReplyDeleteOur Skype call was really fun!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a fun call! It's amazing that you can see people who are so far away from where you live.
ReplyDeleteI have been to Canada two times. The first time, I went to Niagara Falls. It is actually on the border of the United States and Canada. The Canadian side has a lot more shops and stores, plus I think the view of the falls is better on their side. Do you know what state Niagara Falls is in?
The other place I have been is the International Peace Garden. Just like Niagara Falls, it is also on the border of the United States and Canada, but it's in a completely different state. Can you figure out what state the International Peace Garden is in?
If you had a choice to go to the International Peace Garden or Niagara Falls, which one would you pick?
So do we we love the one and only Ivan and we had lots of fun with our skype call with Canada
ReplyDelete#6 2012 I loved what we did in class that day I learned a lot.
