Flower, Flowers, and More Flowers!

Mrs. Alaniz loves flowers! She told our class that Mr. Alaniz will get her BURNT ORANGE roses about once a year. . .So she appreciates them!

So, when we had a chance to work with flowers in class, Mrs. Alaniz was elated! (If anyone reads this, please tell Mr. McLain that Mrs. Alaniz is using DCE Vocab in her blog!!)

Most science students dissect things in middle school or high school. . But at Denton Creek, we're already doing that! We dissected . . . FLOWERS! We took them apart, and named the parts and learned what they do. . . Here's what the flowers looked like . . (the before and after)!

Do you know what a SEPAL is? It's the part of the flower that covers the petals when the flower is at the bud stage. Sepals help protect the flower. They are usually green.
In the third picture of ths post, you can see the Brassica seeds we planted recently. Check out the YELLOW flowers!
We wonder how much they will grow!
